Just These Lines my friends to say…..

Make Love your aim– is Apostle Paul’s summing up directive of 1 Corinthians 14. After his lofty poetic vision of love expressed in the 13th Chapter, Paul focuses in, making it real, in our lives, the church, and ultimately the world.

Jesus is the source and center of that love.  I give you a new commandment, Jesus told his disciples, that you Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one   another.

Jesus loved the church into existence.  His amazing life and ministry; His sacrificial death on the cross; and his miraculous resurrection- birthed the Church.

In his classic book “Life Together” Dietrich Bonhoeffer said we belong to one another- only through and in Jesus Christ. There can be no other basis for our unity. Whatever our differences, and there are many; we are one in Christ Jesus.

The Church is God’s Great demonstration project of a mutuality of love. We get to practice the ‘one another’ part in making love our aim as we welcome one another;  forbear with one another;  forgive one another; confess sin to and pray for one another; serve one       another; encourage one another; comfort one another; bear one another’s burdens; stir up one another; teach and admonish one another.

Receive the challenge to make love your aim.  Our diversity as a human family is a      wonder; our diversity as the Christian church universal is a marvel and a gift… it also makes love hard… it also makes love necessary.  Make love your aim.

The Grace and Love of our Lord be with your spirit, brothers and sisters; and always it is my joy and privilege to be your Pastor and friend,
